More please!

Our Harriet is growing up fast.  She was checked by the nurse at the end of October and weighed in at 7.45kg, which puts her just above the 50th centile, although her head circumference and her length are above the 90th centiles (Semple head and Burdekin height genes maybe?) She passed the 6 month mark on Saturday (how did that happen so quickly?) and has had her first week of eating solid food.  We did what the books tell you to do, and started her on baby rice.

She was interested to start with, but a couple of minutes later the novelty had definitely worn off:

Not surprising really - baby rice has as much flavour as wallpaper paste.  This is clearly a baby of discerning appetites, so we have moved on to advanced baby weaning and established that pear and banana are yum, but pea purée is less so.  Tonight's tea was mashed kumara and baked beans with a side of bread dipped in pesto.  This was a definite hit!

Today pesto, tomorrow vindaloo!
So now we have a nearly full packet of baby rice to do something with.  Maybe I should flavour it with pesto?
