Superstar Reuben

We've written before about Reuben and his vivid imagination, so we thought you'd be interested in proof of this other than complicated plots and plans involving his teacher, whoopee cushions and robot snakes.

Reuben came home with a story he'd written the other day that he needed to finish.  He got a bit stuck and I tried to help by saying that a good story was like a worm, and needed a beginning, a middle and an end, but he insisted that it definitely didn't need a middle.  However, after some head scratching, he found a great ending for his story about what happened one dark, dark, dark night and you can read it here.  (We'll let you work out the non-standard spelling for yourselves; just bear in mind that 'p' and 'j'  get reversed sometimes and you'll be fine.)  He came home from school a few days later with a certificate that had been awarded to him at assembly for 'fantastic imaginative writing using juicy words', so well done that boy.

We met Reuben's teacher yesterday afternoon for a parent/teacher interview and are pleased to report that he's doing well with his maths too and his reading in particular.  Here's a graph we were given by Ms C:

The two red lines show where reading attainment is expected to be after a given number of weeks at school and the black dots show Reuben's actual performance in his first year.  We're very proud (can you tell?)!
