So, we're off! Or very nearly. I'm typing in the kitchen as the house is rapidly disassembled around me by our packers, who are doing a great job and being kept liberally supplied with hot drinks (2 sugars, 1 sugar, no sugar) and biscuits (chocolate) and the odd cupcake.
This is day two of the packing and this afternoon we had the excitement of seeing them get the piano downstairs and into the van. No swearing (not that I heard anyway). Tomorrow morning our 40ft shipping container arrives and in theory the house will be empty by about 2pm. Then we're off down to Dave's Mum in Somerset for three nights before departing Heathrow on Saturday at 9.05pm via NZ38, arriving in Auckland on Monday morning.

Initially we're staying at this (http://www.bookabach.co.nz/7134) holiday home in Mission Bay, chosen because of the children's playroom and the promise of a trampoline in the garden! The friendly owner has also offered to get in some food supplies for us before we arrive and lend us a pram. Unfortunately, we need to leave this paradise after three weeks for as yet unspecified pastures even newer so we'll be house hunting as soon as the worst of the jet lag has worn off. Until we have an address of our own, we can be contacted via Dave's work, and the details are:

We're hoping that lots of you will also keep in touch with us via Skype. Please email us your Skype username if you have a Skype account or ask us for ours.
Good luck and watch out for all those hobbits! Is this just a clever plan to watch England win the world cup in rugby?
