Tilly was at a loose end yesterday. "Do you want to learn how to knit?" asked Dave. Only one teeny pair of knitting needles in the house and a trial with chopsticks was unsuccessful. However, a Google search revealed how-to videos about arm knitting. Tilly picked this up in about 2 minutes and within 30 minutes (not exaggerating!) had knitted her first scarf.
And of course, if you've got a beautiful item of new clothing, you need an excuse to show it off. So we headed down to the local beach where she got to model the scarf in a variety of picturesque settings. Behold! With this scarf on, you can:
Climb trees!
Gaze out to sea!
Gaze out to sea some more, but with looming and dramatic gathering storm clouds and a volcano behind you!
Then we got home and while Reuben and his cousin Mack had a Nerf battle, Tilly calmly knitted another scarf as a birthday present for her friend Victoria (follow link for live action!). And because you cannot have too many handmade woollen items about the house, Dave decided to learn finger-knitting too, and within an hour had made a hat for Tilly.
Now she can model both items together.
And of course Harriet needed one too.
So now you all know what you're getting for Christmas!
