Happiness is your Athlete of the Day ribbon in one hand and a sausage in the other, thinks Reuben. |
Reuben joined our local athletics club when the season started this October and 2 weeks ago was the very proud recipient of a coveted 'Athlete of the Day' ribbon for his performance in the long jump. He's still working on his sprinting style (ie being able to run in a straight line without looking around to see what else is happening) but he can pull off a good leap into the sand pit, so well done that boy.
To add to his sporting achievements, Reuben came home from school with this certificate last week:

is a jandal (or a flipping flopping sandal, as Tilly calls it) and has an iconic part in Kiwi life. To raise money for Surf Life Saving NZ, the 5-7 year olds at Reuben's school took part in a jandal throwing competition. Reuben got through to the final with a throw that hit another child (cue great hilarity) and then came runner-up with a mighty throw of 11.5m.
And finally, he came home from school today with yet another award:
You should try being on the receiving end of some of the above-mentioned 'interesting questions' and see how far you get!
